Split ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Split mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your display name, username, and email address. We also assign your account a unique user identifier.
• Profile Data: Your food preferences, dietary restrictions, and craving history as generated through app usage.
• Social Data: If you use social features, we store your friend connections, follow requests, and follow relationships.
• Group Activity: When using group mode, we process session data to facilitate real-time multiplayer features.

Information Collected Automatically

• Location Data: With your permission, we access your approximate location to find nearby restaurants. Location data is used only for restaurant matching and is not stored on our servers beyond the active session.
• Device & Push Token: If you enable push notifications, we collect a device push token so we can send you alerts (for example, group game invitations). You can disable this at any time in your device settings.
• Usage & Interaction Data: We collect usage statistics, including slider interactions, feature usage, and taps on restaurant links, to improve the App and power engagement features. Some of this data is associated with your account.

How We Use Your Information

• To match you with nearby restaurants based on your preferences
• To enable group mode and multiplayer features
• To improve and personalize your experience
• To track engagement features such as XP, levels, and badges
• To communicate with you about updates or support

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Places API: To retrieve restaurant information and details. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Supabase: For authentication and data storage. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregated data for analytical purposes.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase's infrastructure with industry-standard encryption. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly in the App at any time, under Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email below.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Delete your account and data at any time, in the App or by contacting us
• Withdraw consent for location access at any time via device settings

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
